WHAT IS BOULDERING
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed on small rock formations or artificial rock walls without the use of ropes or harnesses. While bouldering can be done without any equipment, most climbers use climbing shoes to help secure footholds, chalk to keep their hands dry and to provide a firmer grip, and bouldering mats to prevent injuries from falls. Unlike free solo climbing, which is also performed without ropes, bouldering problems (the sequence of moves that a climber performs to complete the climb) are usually less than 6 meters (20 ft.) tall. Traverses, which are a form of boulder problem, require the climber to climb horizontally from one end to another. Artificial climbing walls allow boulderers to climb indoors in areas without natural boulders. In addition, bouldering competitions take place in both indoor and outdoor settings.
I HAVE NEVER CLIMBED BEFORE, CAN I DO IT?
Yes, you can! Climbing is exciting new way to get your body moving. Bouldering engages your whole body and mind; and as with any such exercise, it is best performed with initial assistance. Please speak to our team to ensure you are informed and prepared for your first session. Our team of skilled instructors will guide you through your first lesson. For more focused one-on-one session, you can also book private session with one of our coaches.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BOULDERING?
Bouldering is a full body exercise; as such, it has tremendous positive effects on your physical performance. You will get stronger, your endurance will increase and your stamina will improve too. Bouldering, while total body workout, will nicely shape up your upper body, without adding too much bulk to the top. Your lower body will increase in flexibility, improved muscle use and static and dynamic range of movement.
Bouldering is also a very social activity; you will meet lots of friendly people who climbers definitely are! Working on new relationships and climbing together is a super awesome way to spend time while being fit!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come dressed in comfortable workout clothing; please respect local customs and cover appropriately. Gents, no topless bouldering please. Clothing that is too lose may create trap hazard, please avoid.
WHY DO I HAVE TO WEAR SPECIAL SHOES?
Outdoor footwear is not permitted on the climbing surface. This is for hygiene reasons as you use the same holds for your hands and feet and we don’t want outside dirt from your shoes getting on the climbing holds. You will also have a better experience as climbing shoes are specially designed for climbing with a sticky rubber sole to make climbing easier.
WHAT SESSION IS BEST FOR ME?
Session and membership type depend on your level of climbing, commitment to visits and personal preferences.
If you are a complete beginner, we suggest to book into the session "introduction to bouldering". This session runs multiple times during the week and you will be introduced to bouldering under coach's guidance.
If you know the basics, you can join any open session on schedule. The first time at our gym, you will go through a quick introduction to our center, grading, safety points and tips on how to best enjoy your session.
We also offer Private Coaching lessons. These are great at any point of your climbing journey if you feel like you would benefit from private one on one session with one of our accredited coaches.
WHAT MEMBERSHIP IS BEST FOR ME?
We have 2 types of membership - Credit based and Time based. Both options are great at saving money and hassle at booking!
Our most popular credit pack 10visits is valid for 6months, and you can share your credit with +1 every time you book. This is a good option if you don't know when or how many times a week are you able to commit to coming.
Our time based memberships offer unlimited entry to our venue for the duration of the membership. If you are coming twice or more per week, these memberships offer the best value for money.
